TRAVEL GUIDE: MEXICO CITY
Our creative director, Poppy Lissiman takes us to some of her favourite spots in Mexico City. Follow along to gain inspiration from her recent travels to the colourful destination in the Summer of 2023.
PL: "I was lucky enough to live in Mexico City in 2018. In May 2023 I returned for the first time since I'd left, sampling lots of new spots I've been stalking on instagram in the proceeding years plus revisiting old favourites."
We stayed in the boutique hotel Ignacia Guest House which is tucked away in the chic neighbourhood of Roma Norte. The decor of the whole hotel was obviously a drawing card, the property features 9 uniquely designed suites along with several areas to relax or dine within the small compound including a rooftop heated plunge pool which overlooks the jacaranda trees lining the street below.
Most of the furniture at Ignacia Guest House is custom made by their other business Originario which is roughly a 10 minute walk, also in Roma Norte.
Parque Quetzalcoatl designed by Javier Senosiain.
We had originally intended to visit Senosiain's other site Casa Organica which sadly at the moment is closed to the public.
Parque Quetzalcoatl is an on-going project with the gardens open to see through pre-booked guided tours. There is accomodation on site which is partially privately owned as well as a few spots available to book through AirBnb. If you stay on site you have access to the incredible gardens. Parque Quetzalcoatl is roughly a 45 minute taxi ride outside of central CDMX.
Whether you are seeing Mexico City for the first time or returning - I hope this travel guide gave you some inspiration for your visit. I will no doubt be back again to continue exploring this wonderful place to add more discoveries to my ever growing list. In the meantime here are some of my other favourite places I highly recommend checking out the next time you're in CDMX.
